🧳SYNOPSIS (ish):
This is the follow-up to Miye Lee’s first novel (The Dallergut Dream Department Store) about the magical world where dreams are designed, manufactured, and delivered. You’ll return to the quirky dream factory and meet familiar faces, plus a few new ones.
💬THE VIBE:
Gentle, imaginative, and a bit whimsical, though it never quite recaptured the novelty of the first book for me.
💡STANDOUT ELEMENTS:
The world-building is still charming, and there are moments of thoughtful reflection about why people dream what they do.
🧠WHAT STUCK:
It was nice to revisit this universe and see how the dream-making district operates behind the scenes.
👎WHAT DIDN’T WORK FOR ME:
It just wasn’t as exciting or fresh as the first installment. Some of the magic felt diluted by repetition.
🤔IF YOU LIKE:
Cozy, low-stakes fantasy
Stories about dreams and imagination
🙅♀️IF YOU DON’T LIKE:
Sequels that don’t feel as compelling as the original
Plots with minimal tension or urgency
📝FINAL VERDICT:
3 stars
This was okay. Not bad, not amazing…just a pleasant return to a creative world that didn’t feel quite as captivating the second time around. Worth a try if you loved the first book.
